El Paso Museum of HistoryThe El Paso Museum of History opened in 1980 with a renewed focus on programing and education, thanks to the support and dedication of the El Paso County Historical Society. For years now, the museum has established itself in its own right and has increased programs and special exhibits. The El Paso Museum of History has also won numerous awards for its outreach, educational efforts and its published works.

Now the museum has its own organization of supporters, called the Friends of the El Paso History Museum.

The span of history highlighted here begins in the late 1500s with the arrival of Spanish settlers and up to the current time. The museum's collection was originally built primarily from private donations.

Artifacts include fans, typewriters, woodworking tools and clothing from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The museum has undergone major changes recently. It has moved into a new $6.5 million facility in El Paso's cultural district and serves 2 million people in the region.
